ELI beamlines, the recently elected laser-driven site of the EuPRAXIA project, participated in this event, achieving a major milestone in international scientific cooperation, through signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Scientific and Technological Collaboration with the Institute of Laser Engineering (ILE) at Osaka University.

The agreement establishes a strong framework for long-term partnership between two leading institutions in laser research and development. It defines several key areas of cooperation aimed at advancing the frontiers of high-power laser science and its applications.  These include a focus on joint research in advanced high-power and high-repetition-rate laser technologies, including their applications in inertial fusion energy and particle acceleration; exchange programmes for researchers, students and technical staff to build expertise and foster enduring scientific relationships; and collaborative funding proposals to strengthen access to international funding opportunities.

The collaboration brings together Czech innovation and Japanese precision, creating a unique synergy that will accelerate progress in laser science and technology. By combining complementary strengths and fostering open exchange, both institutions aim to contribute to major global challenges in energy research, materials science, and fundamental physics.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding marks the beginning of a deeper relationship between ELI Beamlines and Osaka University, which will benefit the EuPRAXIA project, strengthen global networks, and drive innovation for years to come.
